Licorice - Höstens hjälte

Licorice - Hero of the fall

Now the summer season is coming to an end, which means we need to say goodbye to our skin for the summer and start adapting our skincare routine to the changing fall temperatures. On the one hand, we need to take extra care of our skin that has been exposed to sun, salt water and stresses during the summer season... but also prepare our skin for the new chilly and dry mornings that will soon be here. Licorice root is one of our favorite ingredients in the bathroom cabinet to help prep your skin for this seasonal change.

Licorice root is one of the most appreciated ingredients in skincare, especially in K-beauty. It's a staple in products designed for sensitive, reddened or pigmented skin. Licorice root has been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine in China and Korea, where it was mixed into ointments for various skin problems. Originally, it was used both internally and externally to relieve inflammation, stomach ulcers and skin problems.

It is common for Korean skincare brands to highlight ingredients rooted in traditional Asian herbal medicine called "Hanbang". Licorice root is an ingredient that fits in perfectly here.

In modern times, Western dermatology jumped on the same train, realizing the value of its depigmenting properties and in K-beauty it became a star ingredient in skincare routines in the eternal quest to achieve "glass skin".

Licorice Soothing Ampoule and Licorice Calming Cream from I'm From are formulated with a whopping 58% licorice exosomes and over 100 million licorice flavonoids. Together, they work powerfully yet gently to restore skin after sun damage and hyperpigmentation, while providing a clearer, more even and radiant complexion. This duo also contributes soothing properties while penetrating and sealing moisture deep into the skin, keeping it hydrated for up to 24 hours.

Licorice root is a prized ingredient in skincare thanks to its soothing, protective and brightening properties. It is particularly known for reducing hyperpigmentation by inhibiting the overproduction of melanin, making it effective against dark spots, sun damage and uneven skin tone. At the same time, it is significantly milder than many other active ingredients, making it well suited even for sensitive skin.

Licorice root is most often used as an alternative or complement to vitamin C and niacinamide, and is often combined with other botanical extracts to create smooth, clear and radiant skin.

In addition to this, licorice root has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps to reduce redness and irritation, making it ideal for skin with rosacea, acne or other sensitivities too. Its antioxidant properties protect the skin against premature ageing, while helping to moisturize and strengthen the skin barrier.
